Patio Installation in Billericay
This job in Billericay brought together three separate pieces of work into one garden project: a new porcelain patio, a fresh lawn and new fencing. The client wanted the whole outdoor space sorted in one go rather than tackling it piece by piece over different years, which meant our team could plan the sequence properly from clearance through to the final finishing touches.
Porcelain was chosen for the patio area, and it's easy to see why more homeowners are asking for it. It doesn't stain the way some natural stone can, it's straightforward to keep clean, and it holds its colour well over time regardless of what the British weather throws at it. We laid the patio first, since getting the levels and falls right at this stage makes everything else easier to work around. Drainage was checked carefully before any slabs went down, which matters more than people often realise when it comes to patio installation.

Fencing and boundary work
With the patio finished, we turned to the fencing. New fence panels and posts were fitted along the boundary lines, giving the garden a properly defined edge and a bit more privacy for the client. Fencing work like this is often overlooked until it's needed, but doing it alongside the patio and lawn meant everything was tackled at once rather than leaving gaps in the garden's finish. Posts were set to be secure and upright, and panels were checked for level before we moved on to the final stage of the job.

Laying the new lawn
The last part of the project was the lawn. Old turf and any leftover debris from the previous garden layout were cleared away first, and the ground was prepared properly before new turf went down. A well-prepared base matters just as much for a lawn as it does for a patio — skip that step and the grass never really settles in the way it should. Once laid, the new lawn gave the garden a clean, even finish that ties in with the patio and the new fence lines running around it.

Working across the whole garden
Jobs that combine hard landscaping with softer elements like turf need a bit more coordination than a single-trade job. Sequencing matters — get the order wrong and you end up walking over freshly laid turf or working around fence posts that should have gone in earlier. Our approach on this Billericay project was to treat it as one connected piece of work rather than three separate jobs bolted together, which kept things efficient and avoided any unnecessary back-and-forth.
The result is a garden that works as a whole: a durable porcelain patio for sitting out and entertaining, secure fencing around the boundary, and a lawn that ties the rest of it together. It's the kind of project that shows what's possible when patio work, fencing and turfing are planned together from the outset rather than treated as separate tasks. Wisbey & Son Contractors carried out every stage of this job, from initial clearance through to the final lawn being laid.
